Texture and Colour Research

Looking into the my sketchup tunnel and picturing the spikes rotating around, it gave me the idea of a tumbling spiral shape. I saw the below image whilst browsing and researching spirals and thought that it looked very cool. I really want to mimic the form, colour and composition of this image with my own sketchup model.
